If CDPR implement enough side activities and mini games, maybe the game could more resemble a AAA Yakuza.
Since it’s highly unlikely that CDPR will revamp the AI in the game, I think their best bet is to attempt to implement as much interactivity in the world outside of that in order to distract from those honestly woeful systems. Gambling, arcade games, being able to sit at restaurants and bars, more viable sex workers, maybe some more special NPCs scattered around that we can have short conversations with (like the two at the beginning of the Streetkid prologue outside the Coyote).
Just turn the game into a big budget, AAA next-level Yakuza type experience. I think it could be a viable strategy.

List of free to play casino & sport games with real money winnings in the UK
Hi All,
I thought of putting together a list of all the current free to play games that are currently available to UK players. There is a blend of daily and weekly games that can tally up over time. Most require you to have made a deposit at the site in the past but there is usually a worthwhile welcome offer to use up if you're new to each gambling site. I usually take away £25-£50 from these games each month and combined with all the free bets it can add up to a nice little amount over time.
Ladbrokes - The daily game is called "Instant Spins" under the "Gaming" section along the top and the majority of the time you will get some sort of winnings out of it - either free spins on slots in the casino or even cash winnings. The weekly game is called "1-2-Free" in the "Sports" sports section and requires you to submit 3 guesses on the outcome of football games before a Saturday deadline - you'll either receive a £1, £2 or £5 free bet depending on the amount of correct answers.
Coral - This has a similar gaming offer to the above. You'll find a game called "Reward Grabber" under the "Gaming" section, look under the More link along the top navigation bar to find it. Again it has a nice selection of prizes and I have found it to regularly give out prizes. You should also play the weekly "Correct 4" game on the Sport tab, take 4 guesses for a chance to win up to £50 in cash or free bets.
WilliamHill currently has two games on offer. The daily play is called "Bonus Drop" and you will find it within the Vegas section of the site. It does not win as much as the above two daily plays, but I've won on it a couple times. They also offer a game called "Scratch of the day" that will always unlock a special deal of the day for you, however it usually involves a small amount if it is worth using at all. The weekly game involves picking 6 football games that which will have 3 or 4 goals.
SkyBet - Check out the "SkyVegas" section and look out for the "Free Prize Machine" for a daily game which you can play after 12 o'clock midday. I have won some nice amounts from this, however a lot of the time it can just unlock 10p bets so you can check out the gambling arcade games.
VirginBet - A pretty good offering here with three different games active at the moment. "Virgin Bet Fives" is a rather unique offering, if you go to the site each day and unlock a player. For each goal that player scores in the upcoming game you will get a randomly selected amount (usually £1). They also offer a weekly quiz, that you can use to unlock free bets if you know your sports history. I've found it fairly easy to answer 5 questions for a £5 free bet. Last of all is a free game within the casino called "Secrets of the phoenix" which can sometimes score you free games.

It seems whoever created the casino has never been inside of a casino before.
Disclaimer: yes this is somewhat picky and admittedly not anything game breaking so take this more as an observation for potential improvement than me just bashing the game entirely, but as someone who loves Vegas and casinos a ton, and was psyched for the immersion experience like everyone else, this bothered me enough to say something. I also can suspend my disbelief over the npc’s not interacting with the tables / looking bored because I’m on ps4 and I just have to assume that’s not what they intended (I hope).
It’s bad enough that we ourselves can’t interact with any of the games, but who on the team decided “oh a casino? Ok 6 roulette tables with the wheels missing (this could be a bug) and no dealers (basically just a handful of people standing around a table with numbers on it), no card games even though there’s packs of cards scattered across the maps, no craps, no slots, and just a couple arcade games. You know, those famous gambling arcade games. You can’t even sit back and watch the people experience the casino because no body is playing, and everyone is just occupying space and breathing.
Things like this bother me more than some of the major stuff because it just reeks of laziness. Swap half the roulette tables out with ANY of the above games and you instantly improve immersion. In a game with super deep side missions and main story lines, it becomes clear what they were willing to not care about.

Request: Social media gaming site with similar games to Facebook
Basically, I'm looking for a game oriented social media site that has a bunch of games like the ones on (and that used to be on) Facebook, like Cafe World, Farmville, FishAO,... that sort of thing.
What I'm not looking for is some sort of download based client with a bunch of RPGs, and FPS games, or a Flash/Unity library like Armor, or Kongregate, or anything that has mainly to do with gambling, arcade games, or cards. Seriously, I'm pushing for a slightly specific genre...
I just want to hang out, make a few friends, so we can work on each others farms, or something. All the Facebook games I liked are long since dead, like SwordQuest, or ZombieLane. I'm not really loving what survived, and I'm constantly being asked to post to my wall (fine if the site is based on gaming, not Facebook...), or spam my friends with invites.

NBA 2K20 may violate PEGI rating guidelines because of the mechanics shown in the My Team trailer.
UPDATE 2:
PEGI has kindly responded (at August the 30th, 12:34 CEST) to the very first email regarding the NBA 2K20 controversy. Being uncertain how legal it is to publish their email response, here is a TD;LR of the response:
- They've seen the announcement trailer of NBA 2K20 and know of the controversy
- They've clarified the gambling descriptor in more detail.
- They say that even if the controversial imagery (of gambling) has a central role in the trailer, doesn't mean that the actual game will. AKA: They know the minigames got a central role in the trailer, but they look at whether it is so in the actual game. PEGI can only comment on the trailer that's publicly shown.
- They are aware that the imagery is generally known to be in casinos (specifically mentioning the slot machines and wheel of fortune), but that using this sort of mechanic to select an item, character or action by chance is not the same as teaching how to gamble for money in a casino. These differences does not trigger the gambling descriptor.
- They're looking at the situation themselves, to see how the rating system should be in general. They are very aware what the public thinks of the gambling mechanics in video games.
Update 1: As of August 30th 10:45AM CEST, 2K UK privated the video most likely because of its backlash. Disappointing to see the company trying to hide said infringing trailer from the public (unless they are suddenly rerating it to PEGI 12, of course). Here is a third party upload (starts a bit later in the rant video) which is a subjective video but it shows the trailer
along with the PEGI 3 rating. Other uploads from Xbox and GameSpot for example got the ESRB logo on it. Later today I'll email PEGI with the third party upload link to verify my claim of guidelines violation (along with a more official ESRB-labeled source to verify it is from 2K themselves a bit more).
https://youtu.be/flV5twgpdes The actual trailer starts from 1:08 in this subjective video.
Take Two Interactive's NBA 2K20 may be violating the age rating guidelines set out by PEGI because of its gambling mechanics being shown.
According to said guidelines, games which do have gambling mechanics usually being present in casinos require a PEGI 12+ classification at minimum. The recent
My Team trailer shows several gambling mechanics, yet the game has been classified (according to Take Two Interactive) as a PEGI 3+ rating, which does violate the set guidelines.
Ever since 2009, European versions of games which contain gambling mechanics have been given (re)classifications to at least PEGI 12+. Very recognisable examples are the Pokémon games from Platinum onwards. Considering the change in European legislation, the PAL versions of the Pokémon games have their Game Corners being removed. Actual rerating games with gambling mechanics before has happened with Virtual Console rereleases of
Super Mario 64 DS and
the original Pokémon Game Boy games (Red, Blue, Yellow).
Because of this, either Take Two Interactive has been withholding information regarding the gambling mechanics to PEGI or PEGI has (mistakenly) misrated the game as PEGI 3+. Both possible scenarios are irresponsible.
After doing my bit of research, I've contacted PEGI through their email form. The very email I sent is visible to read to all underneath, with the greeting redacted because of personal information. I will update everyone on the situation.
I urge people not to massflood PEGI with emails regarding this issue as it would just make them dismiss it all together. Do not mind spreading the words to others to raise attention for this age rating issue, though.
Some clarification though: I contacted them three times about this topic. The second time and third time were because of an automatic email I got after the 'Your message has been sent and will get responded to soon' email, which states that PEGI can't answer technical questions about games and are only able to respond to questions regarding the age rating. I mistook said automatic emails as auto-dismissals and responses to my question. I realised this misake after sending them an email categorised as 'other', complaining about said 'auto-dismissals' and asking for a response to my previous emails, to which I also got said automatic email. So I conclude that the emails were not dismissed, but rather get an auto-email stating they can't answer technical questions, no matter what is being sent. The second time I sent them the complaint is edited with the word 'mechanismen/mechanics' replaced by 'spellen/minigames'.
[The email:]
(English version below)
Beste PEGI,
Dear PEGI,
Since today I have heard the news about Take Two Interactive’s NBA 2K20 video game, in which a recent trailer has shown several gambling minigames. This game is going to be released on September 8th. To see Take Two Interactive claim the game has received a PEGI 3+ age rating classification, is really noteworthy.
In the past, PEGI has (ever since 2009) rated games with gambling minigames like slot machines with a PEGI 12+ rating at minimum. The trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oyBnjNaS2E) shows several gambling minigames, such as (timestamps included):
- Pachinko (a Japanese gambling/arcade game which is present in casinos), visible at 0:43 to 0:53
- Slot machines (in the style of the machines available in casinos), visible at 0:56 to 0:59. (And possibly also:
- The Wheel of Fortune, visible at 1:04 to 1:15)
To see that NBA 2K20 (according to T2 Interactive) received a PEGI 3+ classification, is shocking and irresponsible by Take Two or PEGI. In the past, games with gambling minigames (from 2009 onwards) have been (re)classified with PEGI 12+ at a minimum (such as: Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console and Super Mario 64 DS for the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console). In the previously mentioned Pokémon games, there is a slot machine filled casino present, for which it has been given the PEGI 12+ age rating classification. I do have a question about this:
Why does Take Two Interactive claim that NBA 2K20 has a PEGI 3+ label, while according to PEGI’s guidelines regarding games with gambling minigames the game should be classified as PEGI 12+? Personally, this game is worse than the previously mentioned 12+ games because these games have no option to spend real life currency on in-game currency to use with the gambling minigames, while that is the case in NBA 2K20. I would like to see that the organisation (PEGI) take action by giving the game a PEGI 12+ label (with the disclosure of gambling minigames being included) or by stating that the gambling minigames need to be removed from the European versions to Take Two Interactive to comply with the guidelines.
Best regards,

[World] - Hong Kong police smash gambling racket which used arcade machines for betting games
@SCMPNews: Hong Kong police smash gambling racket which used arcade machines for betting games https://t.co/YMTSFPjBlx
Most arcade games are types of gambling
I absolutely loved arcades growing up and I feel the same "high" from gambling at casinos. Then you have the aspect of games like stacker which masquerade as skill based but will not pay out before a predetermined amount of losses. Same goes for most crane games. At most arcades you use point systems that makes it more difficult to determine real cost (aside from what you paid when loading up your card.) Some games have rapid play features which encourage you to spend as many credits as fast as possible to increase odds.
I don't want to get rid of arcades for children. And I don't want to have to call them casinos. But as a gambling addict, I can seriously say that arcades are addictive in the same way casinos are. Also games like stacker and cranes should have notices that generally a winner will not be awarded until x amount of plays.

Dublin votes to ban gaming (gambling) machines 1989. "Arcade owners distributed contraceptives to the council with an accompanying statement saying that just as every citizen had the right to use contraception, those who wanted to use gaming machines had the right to do so." what a stunt!
Pachinko - a type of mechanical game originating in Japan and is used as both a form of recreational arcade game and much more frequently as a gambling device - Japan's pachinko market generates more gambling revenue than that of Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore combined.
Arcade games are children's version of gambling. Essentially, society can starts kids off with gambling addictions.

Remember when arcade games such as Pinball were investigated because of gambling? Why dont we investigate lootbox rng style practices as gambling in gaming today?
Look it up I dont have a link, but back many years ago when there was only arcade games there was a prohibition style movement to shut them down. The thing was they only cost quarters compared to prices these days. And a guy I cant remember his name, proved to lawyers and lawmakers that arcades were fun and had a certain skill curve to them when you got good with them in regards to reaction time and knowledge about the game mechanics.
Now what do we have? I'll give 3 examples:Halo 5, CsGo and Overwatch. They all condone a certain have and have nots approach to making players feel good about exclusive skins, gameplay features, and superiority. When someone kills a player with a unique gun, custom stylized weapon or player appearance that another player doesnt have it makes them want it. It may not happen right away but it does happen, its that tiny thought in that back of your mind saying " That looks cool I want it!" or "Man that dude doesnt deserve to have that im better then him and I'll show him!"
Then the player has to go through the games mechanics to be rewarded with what he/she desires. What happened to targeted unlocks for something specific you wanted based on skill, player time or special events? They were fast tracked for people who say they dont have the time, skill or finesse to achieve them. No more get x kills with this gun and get a unique gun skin. No more unlock this cool easter egg and get a unique player outfit. It has all become monetized behind a gambling system that rewards you with things you dont want on the way to things you do want. And because it is in your face as you play the game and win or lose you cant avoid being given in game points to use in the gambling reward system anyway.
Finally this has led to abuse all in the ways casino gambling does today, either in people wasting hundreds of dollars and being turned into whales due to addiction based on what the game is providing. Or outside services trying to influence the already shady system put in place by the producer in the beginning. Im talking of course about the CSGO gambling controversy where people gambled against other players and not the game itself to aquire unlock keys to start the box opening or slot machine process. Your gambling before your even gambling, doubling down on a already harmful system. That also more often then not benefited the website owner or "house" which is a whole other topic on its own.
Yes, yes I get it, people are already typing away probably saying things like "But games are expensive to make!", "Developers need more $/support!" Well you know what I think? I think the goodwill game developers/publishers can gain from not having a gambling system but a fun and rewarding system included in the upfront game purchase will far outweigh itself and keep the games average cost higher in the long run. Which can then lead to things such as word of mouth, and players not getting frustrated from a unrewarding system and turning in the game early.
